After 15 seasons in the NHL, all of them with the Boston Bruins, David Krejci announced last week that he was returning home to the Czech Republic to play hockey. Now, a team has officially announced his signing.

"It's a historic event. For us, for the city, the Olomouc region and for the whole League. David Krejci is a personality that the Extraliga is always happy to welcome. It's amazing that a player of this caliber will wear a jersey with a rooster on his chest, which is certainly great news for our excellent fans."

Those are the comments of Erik Furst, general manager of HC Olomouc, a team Krejci played with "from 4th grade to Junior." The release from the team does not say how long Krejci is signed for. For a player of his calibre to play in the Czech Extraliga, it's pretty safe to say he can mostly chose his own terms and play for as long as he wants.

HC Olomouc has not won a league championship since 1994. It is obviously hoping to change that with the addition of Krejci. It's interesting to note that the Czech Extraliga also includes Rytiri Kladno, where Jaromir Jagr plays. Jagr is also the owner of the team.
