This afternoon NHL legend Jeremy Roenick has called out Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard for being disrespectful during the Winter Classic.

Just before the new year kicked off the NHL ended the year with a bang as the NHL Winter Classic was hosted a Wrigley Field between the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues.

The game was set to be a spectacle led by Blackhawks up-and-coming superstar Connor Bedard.

Coming out for warmups Bedard looked to be comfortable even on the monumental stage of a national spotlight like an outdoor game at Wrigley Field.

Unfortunately for the Blackhawks things would not go well on the ice as the Blues would come out and dominate the game from start to finish.

After the game, Bedard spoke about the embarrassing result and took responsibility for the lack of results on the ice.

Now several days after the frustrating loss, Bedard is facing even more backlash from the Winter Classic as NHL legend Jeremy Roenick has called him out for being disrespectful to alumni before the game kicked off.

In a new podcast clip along with NHL referee Tim Peel former Blackhawk Jeremy Roenick spoke about being at the Winter Classic.

Roenick opened up about an incident where he felt disrespected by Bedard after several other current and former Blackhawks players greeted Roenick except for Bedard who ignored him.

All the players came up to me, [Chelios], and [Savard], except one, Roenick said. That was Connor Bedard If we don't have that respect to go up and fist bump, to say congratulations, how can you do it with your own teammates?

Roenick goes on to accuse Bedard of being a poor leader of the organization and dropping the ball during the Winter Classic.

I'm not ripping on him in terms of his personality or anything like that. If he's going to be the captain of this team, there is a lot of things that he has to think about in terms of being that leader, being that captain, and unfortunately he dropped the ball.

Roenick clearly seems offended that Bedard did not make time for him before or after the game but the NHL legend forgets that Bedard's first focus and responsibility is to his teammates and to the team to focus on the game.

While it would have been nice for Bedard to acknowledge Roenick the fact that he didn't doesn't show a blatant lack of respect or anything as egregious as Roenick claims.

In response to Roenick's comments, there are not many former players or fans in the NHL coming to his defense and bashing Bedard.

Instead many are calling out Roenick for being too selfish and only focusing on his perspective of events.

Regardless of who was in the wrong it will be interesting to see if these two Chicago icons are seen together publicly any time soon.
