Former MLB relief pitcher Brian Matusz has tragically passed away at the age of 37.

Brian Matusz was found dead in his Phoenix home yesterday.

Phoenix police office Phil Krynsky revealed the details of the incident to NBC news after news of his death went public.

He also revealed that the cause of death is still under investigation.

"I can confirm we responded to a dead body call at a home near 44th Street and Campbell Avenue at about 2:45 p.m. MST on Monday. The deceased person found was indeed 37-year-old Brian Matusz. Currently, this incident is being handled as a death investigation."

Matusz was a fairly well-known player in MLB, making 280 regular-season appearances over 9 seasons.

He has received much love from the baseball world since news of his death went public, including from the official MLB X account, as well as from the Baltimore Orioles and the University of San Diego, where he played college ball.

Matusz began his career as a starting pitcher for the Orioles after the team selected him 4th overall in the 2008 draft.

He did not have much success in that role, putting up a 17-31 record before being moved to the bullpen, where he continued to pitch for the majority of his career.

He put up a career record of 27-41, had a 4.85 earned-run-average, and pitched 528 innings.

He ended his career worth 2.5 WAR or wins above replacement, which is a respectable total for a relief pitcher, especially one that played mostly on bad teams.

He did get into a single game with the Chicago Cubs in 2016, which proved to be the last of his career, but it was enough to get himself a world-series ring, even though he was not officially recognized as a world-series champion.

Brian will be deeply missed by his friends and family, and the baseball world altogether. Rest in peace Brian.
