Sean Monahan is off to one of the best starts in his career in 2024/25, but unfortunately, a terrible injury will now force the veteran to miss some time.

After an emotional off-season, Sean Monahan has hit the ground running in 2024/25 as he leads the surprisingly high-flying Blue Jackets offense, even if they've slowed down significantly in recent times.

In 41 games played this season, the 30-year old veteran has tallied an impressive 14 goals and 41 points, putting him on pace to match his career high of 82 points which he scored back in 2018/19 with the team that drafted him, the Calgary Flames.

Unfortunately, he won't be able to play in all 82 games with the Blue Jackets this season, as Monahan has now suffered an injury, with General Manager Don Waddell confirming the dreadful news on Wednesday.

"He's getting a bone scan today... I think either way, his wrist is pretty swollen and we'll miss him for some time, hopefully not a long time"

This is the last thing Monahan needed, as he was finally getting healthy following countless injuries with the Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets throughout the years, but unfortunately he just can't catch a break.

As Waddell mentioned, the team are still waiting on an official diagnosis for the injury, so 'some time' could mean weeks or it could mean months, and for the beloved forward's sake, we certainly hope it's the former.

At the moment, Columbus are 18-17-2 on the season and right in the fight for a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, but with one of their top scorers going down, they'll look to stay afloat until Monahan returns, with a potential Stanley Cup Playoffs push being one of the stories of the season in the NHL.
