In a recent podcast appearance, Sportsnet's Jeff Marek recently expressed the possibility of a reunion between the Ottawa Senators and Erik Karlsson.

The veteran defenseman is displaying quite the career resurgence this year, putting up 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in just 18 games so far this year. If Karlsson can stay healthy it appears that he may have found his old form that displayed his elite talents in Ottawa.
A second insider, Elliotte Friedman agrees that a reunion could possibly be in order.
"I think those conversations have happened between the Sharks and the Sens, I believe the two teams have talked about it. I don't know if it's going to be possible. What I heard was it's just not going to be cap possible."

Friedman states that it may not be possible due to the cap, but one has to wonder if the Sharks would be willing to retain salary or take on some larger contracts in order to make a deal work. It would be quite ironic either way to see Karlsson return to the team that made him who he is today.
