Jakob Pelletier of the Calgary Flames says it's difficult feeling like no NHL team wants you, and he's struggling with his play because of recent developments

Jakob Pelletier is not holding back on recent developments in his career. Journal de Quebec, Pelletier said being placed on waivers by the Calgary Flames and not getting picked up by anyone is a tough pill to swallow.

Jakob Pelletier, once a top prospect of the Calgary Flames, was placed on waivers two days ago, something he said he wasn't expected at all. And while he said his preference is to stay in Calgary, not having any of the 31 other teams reach out while on waivers is a bit of a slap to the face.

"To be honest, I find it hard."

"I'm happy in Calgary and I enjoy playing for the Flames, but for sure if a team had asked for me because they saw me on their NHL roster, I wouldn't have said no. That being said, I'm not a guy who gives up and this situation motivates me more than anything else."

Jakob Pelletier, taken 26th overall by the Calgary Flames in 2019, needed shoulder surgery during last year's Calgary Flames' training camp. He returned five months later only to injure the same shoulder again, this time on a hit from the New York Rangers Jacob Trouba.

Jakob Pelletier was very hard on himself discussing his second return, condemning his own play. He admits to possibly returning from the injury too early.

"I don't think I've played a single good game of hockey since I came back from my second injury. Maybe I came back a little early and, without saying I was fearful, I always had in the back of my mind the idea that if I got hit again hard, I could get hurt again."

Jakob Pelletier said he feels like he's in the best shape of his life right now, but being placed on waivers shortly after signing a new one-year deal with the Calgary Flames has been a real downer. Hopefully the 23-year-old can get back to where he believes he should be on the ice.
