One of the best players to ever wear an NHL jersey is mourning the death of the person who introduced him to the sport of hockey. Jaromir Jagr Sr., father of future Hall-of-Famer Jaromir Jagr, has passed away at the age of 82.

Jagr Sr. was a former hockey player himself and was President of the Kladno hockey club when his son took over 10 years ago. He is in the Kladno Hall of Fame.

According to Isport,cz, Jagr Sr. had been in ill-health for some time, and his son had been taking care of him. He took over Kladno because of his fathers ailing health.

"If it is true that children choose their parents before they are born, then my first decision was the best one I ever made. Thank you for everything, Dad!" said Jagr in a statement to media.

Jagr Jr. often talked about going to has dad for advice on hockey. It must have worked, as Jagr finished his NHL career behind only Wayne Gretzky for most points ever. He's also fourth overall in goals (recently passed by Alex Ovechkin), and fifth overall in assists. Jagr will be indicted into the Hockey Hall of Fame as soon as he officially retires from playing professionally.
