The past week has been a rollercoaster ride for Raphael Lavoie, and now the Oilers have him back on waivers with the hope that he will clear this time.

On Sunday, the Edmonton Oilers placed young forward Raphael Lavoie on waivers in the hope that he would clear and be sent to the AHL, but unfortunately that didn't happen as he was claimed promptly by the Vegas Golden Knights. This came as a shock to many, with the team also claiming a player from the rival Calgary Flames, but 24 hours later, Lavoie was back on waivers, with the Oilers intent on claiming him back.

Thankfully for Edmonton, the claim was successful and the former No. 38 overall pick was back in the organization, but it came with a catch, as a rival team placed a claim on him, meaning that he was unable to automatically head to the AHL, and would instead need to clear waivers again. Now, it has been revealed that the team are indeed taking the risk, as they once more placed Lavoie on waivers today in the hopes that he will clear and head to the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL.

It's unclear whether the claim was a pure smokescreen to screw the Oilers over or whether or not the contending team has interest in Lavoie, but if Edmonton weren't going to play him, placing him back on waivers with hopes of him not being claimed was the only move to make. Now, Edmonton will be nervous over the next 24 hours as they wait for word on Lavoie, and if they do end up losing him, it will be seen as total mismanagement for a team that should likely be promoting their young stars to the bottom-six at this stage of their careers.
