Jordan Binnington of the St. Louis Blues has a habit of trying to get under the skin of opponents in a way that no goaltender in the NHL has in a while. Thursday night, that was on full display as Binnington got up to some shenanigans during a stoppage in play in a game against the Colorado Avalanche. Binnington shot a puck at opposing goaltender Darcy Kuemper, and swung his stick at the Avs' Nazem Kadri in an attempt to stir things up. He got a 10-minute misconduct for his actions that was served by a teammate.

During media time on Friday, Binnington attempted to explain his actions after being asked if he regretted doing what he did.

"No," he said. "I don't condone it. It doesn't need to happen. Getting in the scrum was enough, I didn't need to do the stuff after. But stuff happens out there and you learn, and you keep moving forward."

"(The stick-swinging was) kind of the heat of the moment. ... I might have taken it a bit too far. I don't want to condone the stick-swinging. Having a guy sit in the box for 10 minutes isn't being a good teammate. I definitely don't want kids out there swinging their sticks. It's an emotional situation, emotions were high and it was a competitive game, and these are big games against a big team."

All that said, Binnington insisted he's not crazy despite what some hockey fans might think.

"No, I'm not crazy," he said. "It's a tense game and it's not part of the modern-day hockey. Maybe back in the olden days, but it is what it is."

Kadri was also given a 10-minute misconduct during the incident, something his coach said was deserved for trying to escalate the situation.
