Brandon Saad, an 800-game NHL veteran is reportedly willing to waive his no-trade clause to leave the St. Louis Blues organization.

The St. Louis Blues are currently sixth in the Central Division with 32 points, but they are only four points away from third place, where the Dallas Stars are with 34 points.

Making the playoffs in that division won't be an easy task. With the Winnipeg Jets and Minnesota Wild taking the lead, only one more spot is available, outside of the wild card teams.

The Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars are expected to make it, but if the Blues make the right roster moves and find their rhythm, they could cause a surprise.

Over the weekend, during an intervention on Hockey Night in Canada, Sportsnet's insider Elliotte Friedman talked about the possibility of seeing the Blues parting ways with their veteran forward Brandon Saad.

Saad was a healthy scratch in Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars but was back in the lineup yesterday in the Blues' 3-2 win over the New York Rangers.

Friedman revealed that a trade could occur despite Saad's no-trade clause as the player would be willing to waive it.

In his own words:

"Saad is in the third year of his contract. He has one more year remaining at a $4.5 million AAV. The Blues would like to move him. He's got a no-trade clause, but I'm told he's been willing to consider some other options."

Saad, 32, signed with the Blues in 2021, after stints with the Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Colorado Avalanche.

He was drafted 43rd overall by the Blackhawks in 2011 and took part in 891 NHL games since, tallying 509 points, including 257 goals.

This season, in 28 games, he has four goals and six assists with the Blues.
