JT Miller and Elias Pettersson are perhaps the two most talked about NHL players right now.
JT Miller made headlines last month when he took a personal leave of absence from the team, reigniting rumors about his relationship with Elias Pettersson.
While the team refused to give specific details, fans have made the assumption that his leave was related to this very issue.
Today though, Miller addressed this with reporters, denying that there is anything wrong.
He claims that the media is just making this drama up to get clicks.
Most fans are not buying this explanation though. Naturally, as the rift between Pettersson and Miller appears to grow, so does the speculation around the team.
This probably will not do the team any good as they try to retake control of the situation, but at this point trade speculation has run rampant.
Fans and analysts alike are anticipating something major coming out of this drama in Vancouver.
One popular theory is that the team will trade Elias Pettersson. One analyst even suggested he could be moved to the Montreal Canadiens.
That being said, it may make more sense for the Canucks to deal Miller instead.
After all, Pettersson was drafted and developed by the Canucks while Miller was a free agent signing.
Additionally, Pettersson has seven years left on his contract after this one while Miller has just five.
Another factor to consider is the cap hit. Vancouver likely will not want to retain salary on either deal given the contract length, so trading Miller's 8 million dollar cap hit may prove to be much easier than moving Pettersson's 11.6 million dollar price tag.
Whatever happens next, it will certainly be exciting, so be sure to stay tuned to see how the Canucks navigate this tricky situation.
