NHL insider Elliotte Friedman dropped another update on the Canucks situation between JT Miller and Elias Pettersson.

Elias Pettersson and JT Miller are having what appears to be the biggest beef between two teammates in recent memory.

It is no secret to Canucks fans that the two players do not get along, but now that information is becoming widely known around the league.

In fact, things have gotten so bad, that the two players haven't even played together at all since Miller's return to the lineup.

Tonight, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman gave us another update on this ongoing drama, revealing that the Canucks thought they had the situation under control coming into this season.

Apparently, they could not be more wrong.

"It's not new to people that follow the Canucks that (Miller) and Pettersson have a unique relationship to say the least, but three things have brought it back to the forefront right now. Number one, the Canucks thought they had this resolved last year. The team had a great year, both players had great years, and they thought they had moved past this. Obviously, that wasn't the case. Number two, it has bled into the way that they play on the ice and that can't happen. You can't have it affect the way the team and the players are playing and number three, this is probably the most important one, it has started to take its toll on the other people in the organization; the players, the coaching staff, and the hockey operations department."

Friedman went on to discuss how the team can move forward from this.

He did say that the team would prefer to keep both players because of how good they both are, but did acknowledge that that may be a dream at this point.

"In a perfect world, the Canucks number one choice, by far, is that Pettersson and Miller both remain long-term players in the organization. They are both excellent players and the Canucks have a better chance to win with them. They expect them to have a professional working relationship though. If yes, they can do it, then they don't have a problem here. If no, I don't think there's a timeline here, but I think everyone realizes that eventually, something is going to have to give."

Friedman himself has even suggested that the team may very well trade one of the players.

In fact, he theorized that the Canucks could trade Pettersson to the Buffalo Sabres.

It will be interesting to see what direction the team goes though as it sounds like Miller is the bigger problem.

Obviously, Pettersson has made it known that he has a problem with him, but it seems like the rest of the team may largely be on his side, so trading the Swede might not be the best idea.

Ultimately though, only the Canucks know for sure exactly what is going on, so we will just have to see how they handle this awkward situation moving forward.
