Goaltender Igor Shesterkin of the New York Rangers hasn't played 50 regular season games in the NHL yet, but a report states he's in line for a big payday on his next contract. Shesterkin is currently a restricted free agent. According to Vince Mercogliano, who covers the Rangers for USA Today, Shesterkin not filing for Arbitration by Sunday's deadline is a good sign the two sides are close on a new deal.

"It sounds like the 25-year-old goalie and the #NYR are getting close on a new deal in the $5.75 mil-$6 mil AAV range," said Mercogliano. "Kinks to iron out, but confidence it's happening."

Over the course of his 47 NHL games, Shesterkin has put up a 26-10-3 record with a 2.59 goals against average and a .921 save percentage.

With a deal in this range, it's doubtful the Rangers hang on to both Shesterkin and Alex Georgiev. Georgiev is currently making $2.425 million per season and will require a new contract after the end of 2021-22.
