Arthur Kaliyev was waived by the LA Kings and now ends up in his home state of New York, and now he's thrown shade at his former team in his first public comments since the surprising move from Los Angeles.

The New York Rangers season has been in a free fall in recent times, and recently, they claimed forward Arthur Kaliyev on waivers as they look to reignite their once promising Stanley Cup aspirations.

The 23-year old was under-utilized during his time with the Kings, and now he's made that clear in his first public comments since the move, as it appears he's very happy to have moved on from Los Angeles.

"Been looking for it for quite a bit of time"

That comment related to the change of scenery that Kaliyev has been searching for, and thankfully for him, he landed in his home of New York, as he grew up there after being born in Uzbekistan.

"I didn't expect it, obviously, but it's kind of like a dream come true," Kaliyev told reporters today. "I grew up watching and obviously living down here for a long time."

"I used to always come watch games here (at Madison Square Garden)," he said. "It's crazy. Not much more words you can say."

Given that New York moved on from Kaapo Kakko, it makes sense for the Rangers to give the talented young forward a shot, and with his 6-foot-2 frame, it's safe to say that he can be a physical threat alongside his potential as an offensive force.

Ultimately though, he kept it fairly respectful while taking aim at his former team, and while it may come up again when the two teams meet, for now it's simply Kaliyev trying to motivate himself to make a major impact in his new surroundings.
