Tough news on the injury front for the Montreal Canadiens. The team has announced that forward Paul Byron has undergone hip surgery, and will miss around half of the 2021-22 season.

"He is expected to make a full recovery in five months," said the team in a release, which would put him back in the Habs lineup around January.

The 32-year-old had five goals 11 assists while averaging 12:51 of ice-time in 46 regular-season games this past season and skated in all 22 of Montreal's playoff games during their run to the Stanley Cup Final. He has two seasons left on his contract with an annual cap hit of $3.4 million.
