Connor Ingram has been away from the Utah Hockey Club for a few weeks now, and unfortunately he's revealed the heartbreaking circumstances behind his absence.

In quick time, the Utah Hockey Club have become one of the NHL's most likeable teams, with Owner Ryan Smith leading the way for a very fan-friendly experience in year one of the franchise.

One of the most likeable players on that team is goaltender Connor Ingram, who has been away from the team for a substantial time now, and on Friday, he revealed the heartbreaking reason behind his absence.

"At the end of November I asked for time off. My mom was really sick and then my mom passed away December 3rd. I was at home until the 13th, 14th."

"I took time off to grieve. I wasn't handling it well. That's why I was gone."

We take the time to send our condolences to Ingram, his family and friends, as this is an incredibly difficult thing to deal with, with the team clearly happy to let him take a leave and grieve in his own way, something that can often take a long, long time to do.

In further comments, Ingram revealed how supportive the organization were of the situation, noting that the team donated money to the cancer cantre in his hometown of Saskatoon, showing what a great owner Smith is and how supportive the entire organization were of Ingram during this tough time.

«The team donated a bunch of money and things like that to our small town ambulance and the cancer center in Saskatoon. Everyone around here has been fantastic.»

Now, it appears Ingram is ready to take the ice again, and with the team still in striking distance of the Wild Card race in the Western Conference, so we hope that he's as close to 100% as he possibly can be as he looks to help this team down the stretch.
