Zach Hyman's family made a multi-million dollar purchase of a top junior team, according to a new report.

A massive new development from the Ontario Hockey League has emerged.

Indeed, reports confirmed that Michael Andlauer, the current owner of the Ottawa Senators, has sold his OHL team, the Brantford Bulldogs, to the Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman in a surprising transaction.

A new era is set to begin in Brantford as Hyman and his family will take ownership of the Bulldogs. The deal is expected to be finalized on Monday following an OHL meeting, with an official press conference scheduled for Wednesday.

Andlauer, who owned the team for over a decade, played a pivotal role in transforming it into a competitive franchise. This sale marks the biggest change since the team relocated from Belleville to Hamilton in 2015 and then moved to Brantford in 2023.

Since then, the team has brought the J. Ross Robertson Cup, awarded to the best team in the OHL, twice: in 2018 and 2022.

This is only the second year in Brantford for the Bulldogs, which has created a lot of enthusiasm in the city.

Now that Andlauer sold the team, many questions had been raised, notably about his plans to build a new sports and entertainment center valued at $140 million.

As of now, the plan is for the team to relocate permanently to that center, which would generate $4.8 million in yearly expenses.

It remains to be seen what will the Hyman family decide to do, but an official confirmation should be made in a few days when the ownership change gets confirmed by the league.

Meanwhile, Hyman, 32, tallies 24 points, including 13 goals, in 36 games with the Edmonton Oilers this season. The forward is coming off a personal-best tally of 54 goals last season.
