No teams have put in a claim for Kraken's Daniel Sprong, which means he has cleared waivers, and now the real reason he wasn't taken has been revealed.

The Seattle Kraken waived ex-Washington Capitals forward Daniel Sprong, and he went unclaimed, somewhat surprisingly for a player of his offensive caliber.

That may be due to allegations of as****t levied against him by former INDYCAR driver Zach Claman DeMelo.

DeMelo took to Instagram back in 2023 to post the details of an alleged incident with Sprong during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend. According to DeMelo, a dispute went further when Sprong grabbed his neck and pinned him against a wall.

After being separated, DeMelo alleged Sprong returned and as******d him further. He also posted photos of neck and tooth injuries he said were from the incident.

DeMelo at the time said he couldn't comment further for "legal reasons," but he wasn't holding back on Sprong's behavior or character in the post.

Maybe that explains, too, why a player like Sprong, who has flashed legitimate offensive ability from time to time, was allowed to pass through waivers unclaimed.

He also had some issues back when he was a member of the Vancouver Canucks.

Rumour has it he's not the best guy in the room. Whether that concept regarding chemistry is true remains to be seen for a Canucks dressing room that will do its best to acclimate the 27-year-old native of the Netherlands.

If he has issues away from the ice, then maybe that's why nobody wanted to take a shot on this 27-year-old winger.
