Following Connor Zary's terrifying knee injury he sustained last game, Frank Seravalli has provided somewhat of a good news update for the Flames player.

A little bit of good news for the Calgary Flames as it sounds like Connor Zary has dodged a couple of major bullets with his knee injury.

Sources indicate initial imaging, conducted Thursday, revealed no damage to the ACL and MCL in his left knee.

Further medical opinions and assessments will be necessary before an exact timeline for recovery is possible, but at this point, that's a massive relief.

The 23-year-old injured himself in a knee-on-knee hit with Anaheim's Drew Helleson on Tuesday.

Zary was writhing in pain on the ice and had to be helped off, unable to put weight on his left leg. He did not return to the game, which certainly raised concerns about the severity of the injury.

Helleson was assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct for kneeing on the play. Flames head coach Ryan Huska wasn't pleased about it post-game, calling the hit one he "didn't like".

On Wednesday, Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli reported there was no indication of a fracture in Zary's knee, though inflammation at the time prevented further testing.

With the swelling down, the initial scans came back with some encouraging news, though the Flames are awaiting additional opinions to finalize a prognosis.

Zary has been one of the high points of the season for the Flames, with 10 goals and 12 assists in 40 games. In total, the Saskatoon native has 24 goals and 32 assists since breaking into the NHL last season.

The hope for Calgary fans is that he can get back into action soon and keep moving in the right direction.
