The Boston Bruins were saddened to announce that one of their former first-round picks has passed away. Dwight Foster was only 67 years old.

The hockey world is in mourning after former NHL player Dwight Foster died at the age of 67. The news was made public by both the Detroit Red Wings and Boston Bruins.

The Detroit Red Wings are saddened to learn of the passing of Dwight Foster, a former player who recorded 110 points in 215 games played with the RedWings from 1982-1986.

The Bruins are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dwight Foster, who donned the Spoked-B from 1977-81 as part of the Lunch Pail A.C. and again from 1985-87.

Dwight Foster was selected 16th overall in the 1977 NHL Entry Draft by the Bruins after a CHL record-setting year with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL when he belted 60 goals and recorded a whopping 143 points in a paltry 64 games to give him elite prospect status.

Though it did take some time for Foster to get acclimated to the NHL, he did break out in his first full season, recording 24 goals and 52 points.

He would go on to play for the Colorado Rockies, spend four seasons with the Red Wings, and end his career back in Boston.

By the end of the 1986-87 season, Foster had appeared in 541 NHL games and had 274 career points.

We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Foster's family, friends, and former teammates during this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
