Canada did not medal, largely due to the lack of scoring from the team. Having left players such as 2024 3rd overall pick Beckett Sennecke, 7th overall pick Carter Yakemchuk, 9th overall pick Zayne Parekh, and 21st overall pick Michael Hage, among many others at home, it is no shock to fans.
Hockey Canada Senior Vice President Scott Salmond commented on the disastrous tournament:
Ultimately, Salmond did accept that the process of selections must be changed despite head coach Dave Cameron not being consistent in that messaging.
The president and CEO of Hockey Canada ended with this final message, exemplifying that this is a blip on the team, but not an irredeemable obstacle.
We will see if Team Canada learns from its mistakes, or if this disappointing new status-quo persists.
