An unexpected injury has forced Vancouver Canucks GM Patrik Allvin to make an emergency roster move with a callup from the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has made an emergency callup from the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL following an unexpected injury to to one of his forwards.

Dakota Joshua has been unexpectedly placed on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 3, 2025, with forward Jonathan Lekkerimaki getting the callup to the main roster.

Dakota Joshua didn't make his 2024-25 season debut with the Vancouver Canucks until November as he recovered from testicular cancer.

This latest injury appears unrelated as Joshua was in discomfort in the Canucks last game, which was against the Nashville Predators, after an opponent fell on his leg.

The Canucks are going through some issues, with former NHL Gm Brian Burke recently suggesting a shocking resolution to the locker room turmoil.

There have also been trade rumours involving star forward Elias Pettersson as he remains in an offensive slump compared to other seasons.

Jonathan Lekkerimaki was the 12th overall pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2022. He's played just five games in the NHL so far in his career, and has one goal over that span.

The Canucks are in Montreal tonight to take on the surging Canadians, who are 7-2-0 in their last nine games. Vancouver is 18-12-8 on the season and are in fourth place in the Pacific Division with 44 points.
