The Los Angeles Kings surprisingly waived Arthur Kaliyev, and now it's been reported that the Ottawa Senators are one team keeping an eye on the young forward, although they'll have much competition to land him on waivers.

After a red-hot start to the 2024/25 campaign, the Los Angeles Kings made a surprising move on Sunday, as they officially waived former second-round draft pick Arthur Kaliyev.

Despite being just 23-years of age, his development has been stunted since dealing with injuries, and now, with the team possessing plenty of depth, they are ready to move on from the young forward.

There's expected to be plenty of interest in him, and now, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has revealed which Canadian team has the most interest in the talented young standout.

According to the Ottawa Sun, the Senators have expressed interest in Kaliyev in the past, as Sens GM Steve Staios is familiar with Kaliyev from their days with the Hamilton Bulldogs organization.

Kaliyev would be the perfect pickup for Ottawa, as he is still very young with untapped potential, with 27 and 28 points put up in his first two NHL seasons with the Kings, but since then he has played in just 51 games over the past two seasons.

Standing at 6-foot-2, Kaliyev has impressive size and skill, enough to compete consistently at the NHL level, with the forward out of Uzbekistan once being considered arguably the best prospect in the Los Angeles Kings organization.

Although Los Angeles are no doubt hoping he'll pass through waivers and join the Ontario Reign of the AHL, there's NHL opportunities out there for the 2019 second-round pick, and if Ottawa get the chance to claim him, it appears that they'll jump at the opportunity.
