Team Canada simply messed up their 2025 World Juniors campaign from start to finish, and now Don Cherry has a solution to their problem.

The past few weeks have been a disaster for Hockey Canada, who sent an underprepared squad that lacked major talent to the World Juniors in Ottawa, only to fail to medal for the second straight year.

There's been many solutions thrown out there by fans and analysts in the hours since their loss to Team Czechia, but perhaps the most obvious of all was simple: pick the most talented players and take the politics out of Hockey Canada, which was clearly the reason for some players making it above others.

Now, respected hockey personality Don Cherry has weighed in with his opinion on how to improve Hockey Canada at the junior level moving forward, and it's a very simple one.

Don't be too hard on the kids. They tried their best. They seemed tight all tournament. Hockey Canada has to get with it and hire full-time coaches for the World Jrs, Under 18, Under 17 and get some consistency.

Simply put, Cherry wants Canada to hire full-time coaches at all the junior levels, with the hope that selection would be merit based rather than political, as it seems to have been over the past two years with the team struggling.

While many have taken blame for the poor finish from Canada, it's Dave Cameron that has been the face of it all, with his decision making with the lineups and cancelling practice playing a huge role in the failure to medal.

Ultimately, it's unclear if Hockey Canada want to change things or if they are simply happy with the status quo and blame the loss on the players, but for now Cherry and others have solutions, and unless they are listened too, Canada are bound for mediocrity for years to come.
