In some tragic news out of the sporting world, former Princeton WR Tiger Bech has lost his life during the New Orleans tragedy that took place.

Tiger Bech, a former Princeton football player, and All-Ivy League kick returner, lost his life in a devastating pickup truck incident early Wednesday morning in New Orleans.

Tiger Bech's younger brother, Jack Bech, a former TCU wide receiver, took to his X account later in the day to mourn the loss of his sibling in a heartfelt post.

"Love you always brother!" Jack Bech wrote. "You inspired me everyday now you get to be with me in every moment. I got this family T, don't worry. This is for us."

Princeton Tigers head coach Bob Surace shared his condolences, along with many fond memories of Bech, saying that he had been sending texts to Bech's father, Martin, in an attempt to honor the legacy of his former player.

"He might be the first Tiger to ever play for us, and that nickname kind of described him as a competitor," Surace said. "He was somebody that somehow, like in the key moments, just excelled and was full of energy, full of life."

Bech played at Princeton between 2017 and 2019 as a receiver and kick returner, catching 53 receptions for 825 yards and three touchdowns in his three-year career.

At the time of the incident, Bech worked as a stockbroker in New York and was in New Orleans for the holidays.

The incident happened around 3:15 a.m. CT in the city's famous French Quarter. There were at least 15 casualties, and dozens wounded in the incident per authorities.

The driver lost his life in an altercation with police following the incident, the FBI said, and the bureau is taking the lead in the investigation.
