Report states Blues GM has miscalculated the market for Vladimir Tarasenko
With Vladimir Tarasenko clearly communicating his desire to be traded from the St. Louis Blues, many thought the situation would have been resolved by now and the 29-year-old would be elsewhere. However, a source tells Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic that Blues GM Doug Armstrong has miscalculated the market for Tarasenko's services.
According to that source, there were once four teams interested in Tarasenko. There are now two, with options dwindling with each new free agency signing that takes place.
"The trajectory doesn't get any better,' the source said. 'They shit on this guy to their own detriment. It's time to move him. The train has left the station."
The source also said Armstrong is asking for "too much" in return for Tarasenko.
Tarasenko is reportedly unhappy with the way things were handled with his multiple shoulder surgeries. He has two years left on his current contract that carries a cap hit of $7.5 million. He hasn't played much the past two seasons due to injury, but has had three seasons with 70 plus points and another two with 60 plus.
Armstrong recently said that Tarasenko has to prepare like he'll be in St. Louis for training camp.
"He has to get ready to play. He is a 30-year-old. I'm sure he wants to play for a number of years in the NHL, and he has to come back and have a great season," said Armstrong.
