One of the highest-paid players in the Montreal Canadiens organization is reportedly receiving major interest in the NHL trade market.

It's hard to deny that the Montreal Canadiens have been one of the most surprising teams in the entire National Hockey League in the past weeks.

After years of rebuilding and a very tough start to the season, the Canadiens have finally found their stride, and have been among the best teams since December, beating top contenders like the Las Vegas Golden Knights, Washington Capitals, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, and Vancouver Canucks.

Last night, against the Washington Capitals, they won their third straight game with a 3-2 score.

Captain Nick Suzuki gave his team the win for the second consecutive game by scoring this amazing overtime goal:

Another turning point in the game was Josh Anderson's goal on the penalty kill:

Coming off an abysmal 2023-24 season, Anderson had a lot of work to do to get back on the fans' good side.

Used for his offensive talents, he scored only 20 points, including nine goals and a -18 rating in 78 games.

This year, he has a completely different role, much more defensive, notably playing on the PK, and shines on the ice.

With 16 points in 41 games and a -3 rating, his improvement curve mirrors that of his team.

If fans noticed it, NHL organizations did it too.

According to Frank Seravalli, there is some interest in Anderson in the trade market.

Here's what he wrote in a recent paper:

"Eighteen months ago, the Canadiens' phones were ringing off the hook with teams willing to give up a haul for Anderson.

In retrospect, it seems like the Habs probably should've taken them up on it. But there is still interest in Anderson, his massive frame is appealing to so many front offices.

He could be an absolute menace in a playoff series. But the Canadiens have to get there first."

Of course, with the Habs' recent success, the team might consider being buyers instead of sellers at the upcoming trade deadline. If that's the road the organization decides to take, Anderson will likely remain with the team, like the Canadiens' other trade assets such as David Savard and Jake Evans.
