Security reportedly had to get involved tonight as the Flyers hosted the Ducks and several fans had mean signs for Cutter Gauthier.

Gauthier was drafted by the Flyers 5th overall in 2023. Last year he was traded to the Ducks unexpectedly raising questions about the move.

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed shortly after the trade that the Flyers believed he did not want to play for them, which is why they made the deal.

Since then, Flyers fans have continued to criticize the player for refusing to play for the organization that drafted him.

As we know, Philadelphia sports fans can be quite dramatic when it comes to this kind of thing.

In fact, some Flyers fans were caught throwing trash on the ice during one of Gauthier's NCAA games after the trade.

Now they are at it again. Reportedly, many fans brought homemade signs to tonight's game, which is the first time Gauthier has played in Philadelphia as a member of the Ducks.

Some of these signs were so mean spirited that team security felt the need to confiscate them before warmups started.

However, that did not stop the fans from being heard during the game.

Before he took his first shift the crowd was chanting "We want Cutter" and proceeded to boo him relentlessly after he took the ice.

Shortly after this, the fans started taking up another, even less friendly chant directed at the 20-year-old.

Gauthier has 5 goals and 18 points in 41 games with the Ducks this season. He played a single game at the end of the 2023-24 season and recorded an assist.
