Today a new report has added more chaos around the New York Rangers as star Mika Zibanejad is now reportedly open to being traded away.

This season the New York Rangers have been an absolute mess as they sit near the bottom of the NHL standings.

After trading away their captain Jacob Trouba earlier this season the Rangers have continued to sell off pieces including former top-five overall pick Kaapo Kakko.

Since trading Kakko many have wondered who will be next with many assuming it would be veteran Chris Kreider who was recently scratched by head coach Peter Laviolette.

Instead over the last 24 hours it seems momentum is starting to pick up surrounding the idea that Mika Zibanejad could be the one traded first by the New York Rangers.

This all began on Saturday when insider Elliotte Friedman suggested that the Rangers are far from finished on the trade front.

«We are far from finished with major change for the Rangers,» Friedman said.

This then led fellow insider David Pagnotta to dig deeper on the discussions being had in New York and according to his sources Zibanejad might be the next player on his way out.

Insider David Pagnotta reveals Mika Zibanejad is open to a trade

In a new report for The Fourth Period insider David Pagnotta has confirmed from a Rangers source that Zibanejad would be willing to waive his No Movement Clause for the right situation.

Citing a source close to the Rangers, Pagnotta reported on Monday that Zibanejad would be open to waiving his NMC for the right environment. It is unclear, however, if the Rangers and Zibanejad have discussed which teams he would accept a move to, but that conversation could come if Drury finds the right fit.

Now of course finding the right fit for a trade involving Zibanejad is easier said than done for GM Chris Drury.

However, if his recent track record of moves is any indication Drury is ready to hit the reset button in New York and move on with a new core of players.

To do this Zibanejad would almost certainly need to be moved and if he is willing to be traded now it might be the right time to just rip the bandaid off.

As more information is released regarding this situation we will pass along the latest news to you.
