Brad Treliving of the Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly has some interest in acquiring Ducks defenseman Jacob Trouba at the trade deadline this year.

Jacob Trouba's season just got flipped upside down when he was traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

The move was massive, but not entirely surprising as he had been involved in trade rumors since the summer.

Still though it is always a bit shocking to see an NHL team trade their captain, especially this early in the season.

What is even more shocking in this case is the fact that it now sounds like he could be moved again.

According to Steve Simmonds, one Canadian team is looking into the possibility of adding the veteran blueliner for a playoff push this spring.

That team would be none other than the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have consistently struggled in the postseason.

Could Trouba be part of the solution for that problem? Well, he has won four rounds with the Rangers since 2020 compared to the Leafs one.

However, it could be argued that Trouba was a passenger for much of that playoff success.

Furthermore, he simply is not the player that he used to be. Leafs fans largely seem opposed to the idea of their team acquiring him.

One fan also correctly pointed out that Trouba has gone on the record saying he does not want to play in Canada, and he still has trade protection, so a deal might not be possible anyway.

Trouba had 6 points, all assists, in 24 games with the Rangers this season. He is currently making his debut with the Ducks tonight and has a single hit through the first period.
