Juan Soto has officially signed his long-awaited contract after days of speculation that linked multiple teams to the MLB superstar.

According to multiple reports, Juan Soto is signing a 15-Year, $765M contract with the New York Mets. First with the news was MLB Network insider Jon Heyman.

Soto trades in the pinstripes of the New York Yankees after a season to the crosstown rival Mets in the largest deal in all of sports history, surpassing the $700M paid by the Los Angeles Dodgers to two-way star Shohei Ohtani.

The deal includes an opt-out that will kick in after his fifth year with the Mets, according to Andy Martino of SNY.

Soto heads to the Mets alongside fellow Latin superstar and friend Francisco Lindor, who was active in the team's recruitment of Soto.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB Network, the New York Yankees offer for re-signing Soto was for 16 years at $760M, which would have made him $47.6M yearly vs the $51M offered annually by the Mets. Both deals would take Soto into his 40's. MassLive Red Sox reporter Sean McAdam reported the Red Sox deal was for 15 years at $700M.

There's no word on the Toronto Blue Jays, who were the fourth team rumored to have surpassed the $700M mark, although reports had indicated the Jays could be the highest bidder for Soto. Also unknown is how far the fifth reported team in the bidding, The Los Angeles Dodgers, made in their pursuit. The Dodgers earlier in the night signed a different outfield option in Michael Conforto to a one-year, $17M contract, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB Network.

Feinsand also reports the Dodgers are in on fellow free agent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, who has also been linked to the Red Sox as of recent, and potentially the Blue Jays who he had previously played for.

Soto finished third in MLB American League voting in 2024, having hit 41 home runs with 109 RBI's in 157 games with a .288 AVG and a .989 OPS. Soto is a four-time MLB All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger winner, including nods for the 2024 season.

The New York Mets finished third in the National League east with a 89-73 record. The Mets made the playoffs, losing to the eventual World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS in six games.
