It was confirmed today that Jacob Trouba has been traded to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Urho Vaakanainen and a pick.

Rumours have been circulating all day Friday about Jacob Trouba's future in New York, but after not being placed on waivers, his fate is confirmed as his entertaining time with the Rangers is now coming to an end.

Early on Friday, things kicked into overdrive regarding Jacob Trouba's future in New York, with reporters and insiders revealing that a decision on his future was very, very close. It has now come.

That speculation included the same process the team used to move Barclay Goodrow this past summer, with the team placing him on waivers for the San Jose Sharks to claim after he refused a trade there.

The wait for the 2PM waivers deadline was full of anticipation, but ultimately, Trouba was not placed on waivers, and has now been traded to the Anaheim Ducks.

The team will receive prospect Urho Vaakanainen and a pick in return.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that New York have several deals on the table, but with Trouba potentially using his no-trade clause, it made some of the deals hard, with waivers becoming a genuine possibility.

Trouba ultimately chose to waive for the Anaheim Ducks.

Trouba's cap hit is $8 million this season and next season, so that is another factor that plays into this trade. Anaheim's low package in return is representative of such.

The official final trade is Trouba for Vaakanainen and a fourth round pick in this year's entry draft; far from a luxurious package for the former captain, but at least the deal is done.

What the New York Rangers do from here on out will be interesting.
