Brendan Lemieux is known for being one of the NHL's dirtiest players, and now another opportunity is gone as he has been waived by the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Carolina Hurricanes have been rolling along once again in 2024/25, with the team now seemingly set up for a huge campaign as they look to finally fulfill their potential as Stanley Cup threats.

However, we now know that one player won't be involved with their potential run, as Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli has revealed that Brendan Lemieux, widely regarded as one of the dirtiest players in the NHL has had his contract terminated by the team.

The 28-year old has yet to play a game with the team this season, and after posting just three goals and 5 points in 35 games with the team a year ago, it's becoming clear that he's more trouble than he's worth for an NHL team.

For the AHL's Chicago Wolves, Lemieux has just 2 goals and 2 points in 12 games played this season, showing that while he may have a future in hockey, it's simply not going to be at a high level in North America.

However, given the gritty, dirty style that he plays, there could be a team out there that takes a shot on him as a disruptor on their team for league minimum, but given that he's now been moved on by his fifth team, the likelihood is getting lower and lower.

While the former second-round draft selection has shown plenty of potential, he's simply not been able to escape his reputation, and at this point given how little production he has given NHL teams in recent years, it makes perfect sense that he's unlikely to get a significant role in the league again anytime soon.
