Some bad news for the Dallas Stars as Tyler Seguin's scheduled hip surgery has been delayed. With a four month estimate for his return to the ice, it's now likely he'll miss at least the first part of the 2020-21 season.

“We anticipate he's having it next week,” Nill said, via NHL.com's Tracey Myers. “Because of the (coronavirus) pandemic, where he's having the surgery, there are certain restrictions, so we've had to work around some of those things. Some surgeries have been canceled, so he hasn't had it yet. We'll have another call here, I hope, next week, and I can update everyone on things moving forward.”

Nill expects other banged-up Stars such as Ben Bishop, Jamie Benn, and Anton Khudobin to be ready for the start of next season. The last time the NHL gave an update, it was aiming for the 2020-21 season to start on January 1st. That seems optimistic but that's where we are at the moment.

Seguin, who led the Stars with 50 points during the 2019-20 regular season, injured his hip during the playoffs, although the team has not stated exactly when. He registered another two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 26 playoff games as Dallas made the trip to the Stanley Cup final.
