The Buffalo Sabres held a team meeting yesterday to discuss their response after Tage Thompson was knocked out of the game.

The Buffalo Sabres defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Sunday, but that was not the most important part of the game.

Rather, that would be a moment that came in the 3rd period of the game when Devils forward Stefan Noesen hit Tage Thompson with a blindside hit, taking him out of the game.

With 28 goals and 48 points through 47 games there is no doubt that Thompson is among the most important players for the Sabres, so losing him would be a big deal.

Luckily, it seems like he was not significantly injured by the hit, but the team did announce that he is out day-to-day.

That being said, Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff apparently was not very happy with the way his team responded to the hit.

There was a minor scuffle, but no one really stood up to defend Thompson and no one went after Noesen, who was ejected from the game.

Ruff told reporters that the team 'had some hard conversations' during what would have been a practice Monday morning, but added that it has been dealt with.

He refused to give any further details about what was said at the meeting.

"We had some hard conversations It's over. What we discussed will stay inside the room and we're moving on to try to win tonight."

Young Sabre Dylan Cozens noted that he wished he was on the ice himself when the hit happened so he could have stood up for Tage, adding that a lot of guys on the bench felt the same way.

He reiterated what other Sabres players said as well, noting that this will not happen again.

"I think there's a lot of guys that wish they were on the ice when that happened. But we talked about it, we dealt with it and that won't happen again."

The Sabres play again tonight at 7PM EST against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Look for the team to have a physical response after this meeting.
