Robin Lehner will remain a member of the Vegas Golden Knights for the next few years. According to TSN's Frank Seravalli, the 29-year-old netminder has signed a new five-year deal with Vegas worth $25 million, or $5 million AAV.

Lehner signed a one-year contract with Chicago at the beginning of last season, but was dealt to Vegas at the trade deadline in February. In the playoffs, he took over the number one spot between the pipes from Marc-Andre Fleury, playing a total of 16 games with a 1.99 goals against average and a 1.99 save percentage. Vegas eventually lost to Dallas in the Western Conference Final.

The big question now is what this means for Fleury, who still has another two seasons left on his contract at $7 million AAV. It's doubtful Vegas will want to carry a $12 million cap hit in goaltenders, but it may not have a choice unless the team can find a suitable trade partner. Attempting to trade away a goaltender, especially a high-priced one, can be tricky right now as several goalies are hitting free agency on October 9th.

Many have speculated that Vegas will keep Fleury in order for Seattle to take him in the expansion draft. That is not possible as Vegas is exempt from said draft. This will be an interesting story to watch as it develops further.

Sportsnet's Chris Johnston noted that Lehner's new deal includes a modified no-trade clause, although he did not give details.
