Kirby Dach has been a breakout star for the Montreal Canadiens, but now he'll miss the remainder of the season after successfully undergoing knee surgery, with question marks now posed over his ability to stay healthy for a full season in the NHL.

The Montreal Canadiens may be on the outside looking in at a Stanley Cup Playoffs spot this season, but they've flashed plenty of potential thus far, with the future looking very bright with their young core of home grown players leading the way.

Unfortunately, one of the young stars leading the way has now suffered a major blow, as the team announced on social media that Kirby Dach has undergone successful knee surgery, meaning he will miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

The 24-year old was in his third season with the Canadiens after coming over from the Chicago Blackhawks, and while he had just 10 goals and 22 points in 57 games played, it's safe to say that he's still got the potential to be a key piece for this team moving forward.

With the likes of Ivan Demidov and David Reinbacher still yet to join the team, there is plenty of optimism in Montreal that their rebuild may finally be coming to an end, and if Dach can step up into a 2 or 3C role moving forward, it makes their chances of success a whole lot better.

Unfortunately, the injury history is extensive at just 24-years of age, so he will need to find a way to stay healthy moving forward, but if he can do that and get back to 100% consistently from 2025/26 and beyond, there's no reason beyond that why he can't blossom into a fantastic middle-six forward at the NHL level.
