The Philadelphia Flyers may have only just recently acquired him, but they are likely looking to flip Andrei Kuzmenko by the upcoming trade deadline.

The Philadelphia Flyers are rumored to be eager to trade recently-acquired Andrei Kuzmenko before the trade deadline, possibly shipping him to a playoff contender.

While there's no certainty the Flyers make deals involving core players like Scott Laughton or Rasmus Ristolainen by March 7, they seem to be willing to deal away one of their newest additions.

Kuzmenko arrived in Philadelphia as part of the trade that sent Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to Calgary, with the Flyers receiving Jakob Pelletier, draft picks, and the pending free-agent winger for their rights.

28 years old and due to become a free agent this summer, Kuzmenko is not a long-term solution for the Flyers, so he's a natural trade candidate.

His 39-goal breakout campaign feels like ancient history now, and since Philadelphia is not going to make a real push at the playoffs, there is no reason to hang on to him unless they genuinely think about re-signing him.

Although GM Danny Briere has indicated an interest in taking Kuzmenko into account prior to free agency, asset management might take precedence.

The Flyers aren't getting much interest on Kuzmenko

All that aside, while the Flyers are open to trading Kuzmenko, there has been little action on the trade market, per NHL analyst Anthony Di Marco.

He would have to improve his stock over the course of a few games leading up to the deadline next week so that a playoff club would sacrifice a draft choice or prospect, particularly if the Flyers are holding onto half of his $5.5 million cap number.

Whether or not that situation develops prior to March 7 remains to be seen.
