The QMJHL announced their new rules when it comes to fighting, in an attempt to make the game safer.

The changes come after the minister of sports in Quebec, Isabelle Charest, requested that the league ban fighting.

The previous rule was that anyone in a fight would get a 5-minute major. Additionally, if somebody was deemed as the "instigator" they would receive an additional 2-minute minor.

The new rule will give both fighters a 10-minute misconduct as well as a 5-minute major. The 2-minute minor will stay the same.

Players will receive a one-game suspension for every fight after their 3rd fight in a season.
