The Vegas Golden Knights have been known to take a huge swing at the deadline, and now it appears they're targeting a blockbuster deal with the Buffalo Sabres.

While we've seen a few blockbuster trades this season, all appears to be quiet with the March 7th trade deadline rapidly approaching, with several big deals potentially looming.

One of them we now know involves the Vegas Golden Knights, who, according to NHL Insider Jeff Marek are eyeing a major deal with the Buffalo Sabres, as they have been scouting them extensively for the past few weeks.

Make what you want out of this, but there sure have been a lot of Vegas Golden Knights scouts at the last five Buffalo Sabres games. Two more again Saturday for Buffalo's game against the New York Rangers.

This season the Sabres have been involved in plenty of trade speculation, with the likes of Owen Power, Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram all being eyed up by rival teams, and given the type of swings we've seen from Vegas at the deadline in recent years, it's safe to say that they aren't afraid to push all their chips in.

Last year it was Noah Hanifin and Tomas Hertl, who are now both key pieces of the Golden Knights lineup, and after getting Jack Eichel from Buffalo a few years ago, it makes sense that they would go back to them and look for another potential deal.

With players like Alex Tuch also potentially available at the right price, this is certainly a story to keep a close eye on as the trade deadline approaches, and while we don't know exactly who they are targeting, when Vegas wants a player they usually get them, so don't write off all of this scouting as not a big deal.
