A scary incident during the Edmonton OIlers-Vancouver Canucks preseason game Thursday night when Zack Kassian was out cold after hitting his head on the ice. Kassian and Zack MacEwen had agreed to drop the gloves off a faceoff. There were several quick punches thrown, and then both would fall to the ice. During that fall, Kassian hit his head and was clearly out. You could see the officials and MacEwan signalling for the trainers to get to him as quickly as possible.

Thankfully, Kassian would leave the ice without the use of a stretcher. Following the game, Oilers coach Dave Tippett provided an update.

"He's got a pretty good bump on his head from hitting the ice, but he was in good spirits and was telling jokes when I came and saw him after the game," said Tippett.

No word on how long Kassian will be out but it's likely he'll miss some time as he deals with the after effects. That said, this one could have been much worse.
