Despite having just one season remaining on his current contract, Nashville Predators forward Filip Forsberg is not concerned about signing a new deal at this time.

«I have a full year,» Forsberg said to Adam Vingan of The Athletic. «I feel like you have to play your contract out.»

Forsberg, 27, is in the final year of a six-year, $36 million contract. Since his rookie season with the Preds back in 2014-15, he has been one of the team's most consistent point producers. This past season, one in which he was limited to just 39 games, marked the first time in his seven-year career that he has failed to score at least 21 goals. Still, he had a solid campaign with 12 goals and 32 points.

The Predators have lacked offensive talent over the years, making the re-signing of Forsberg a major priority. If the two parties aren't able to work out a deal, Forsberg could be moved ahead of the trade deadline, especially if the Predators struggle throughout the season.
