On Thursday, it became public knowledge that the Montreal Canadiens will be without Carey Price for some time, as the veteran goalie voluntarily entered the NHL's player assistance program.

It isn't known why Price made the decision to enter the program, nor does it need to be. What is known however is that he will miss a minimum of 30 days, though it could be more. Several of his teammates have let it be known how much they support their netminder, with the most recent being Brendan Gallagher, who has played with Price for 10 seasons.

"You couldn't ask for a better teammate and role model – for fans, the Indigenous community," Gallagher said. "For him to look at himself to be a better man is building on that."

Price, 34, has been one of the best goalies in the league for over a decade. While the Habs are undoubtedly better off with him between the pipes, the most important thing is that he is able to overcome whatever it is he is dealing with. Our thoughts go out to him and his family.
