Just days after acquiring restricted free agent forward Pavel Buchnevich from the New York Rangers, the St. Louis Blues were able to sign him to a four-year, $23.2 million deal.

Buchnevich, 26, was traded by the Rangers on Friday in exchange for Sammy Blais and a second-round pick in what was considered a lopsided trade in favour of the Blues. The 2020-21 season was a career year for Buchnevich who scored 20 goals and 48 points in just 54 games. It took longer than some expected, but it appears he has fully arrived at the NHL level after years of everyone acknowledging just how skilled he was.

While it remains to be seen how he adjusts with his new team, it wouldn't be surprising to see Buchnevich crush his career highs next season, as he is without a doubt capable of putting up north of 60 points over a full 82-game schedule. He could really help turn the Blues back into contenders once again.
