One of the Staal brothers is off the market. The Detroit Red Wings announced on Sunday that they've re-signed defenceman Marc Staal to a one-year contract.

According to Chris Johnston of Sportsnet, the contract is worth $2 million and includes a full no movement clause.

Staal, 34, was traded to the Red Wings in September 2020 after spending 13 seasons with the New York Rangers. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native played in all 56 games during the regular season for Detroit tallying 10 points (3 G, 7 A), 20 penalty minutes, and was a -5.

Marc was set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 28th, and would have joined his brother Eric who will also hit the open market.
