The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Friday that they've fined Minnesota Wild forward Ryan Hartman $5,000 for a dangerous trip on St. Louis Blues forward Sammy Blais.

Just over half-way through the second period on Thursday night, the puck was dumped into the Blues' zone. Blais was skating back to give his team the option of an outlet pass when Hartman poked the back of his left leg causing Blais to trip.

This is the second time in a week that the NHL's Department of Player Safety has handed out a fine for a dangerous trip. On May 9th, they fined Montreal Canadiens defenceman Joel Edmundson for a similar play on Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares.

Hartman, 26, has recorded 22 points (7 G, 15 A), 33 penalty minutes, and is a +/-0 in 51 games this season.
