Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion announced Friday morning that the team has agreed to terms with defenceman Artem Zub on a two-year contract extension with a cap hit of $2.5 million.

Zub, 25, was signed as a free agent out of the KHL last offseason. In 47 NHL games this season, Zub recorded three goals and 14 points and has been a solid fit in Ottawa while playing mainly on the third pair. Prior to this year he had spent the previous five seasons in the KHL split between St. Petersburg SKA as well as Khabarovsk Amur.

That wasn't the only news to come out of Ottawa today, as it was also confirmed the team will be moving on from goaltender Marcus Hogberg. The 26-year-old really struggled this season when healthy, posting an ugly 3.74 goals against average (GAA) along with a .876 save percentage (SV%) in 14 games. Years ago he was considered to be a high end prospect for the Sens, but unfortunately things never worked out as planned.
