Brook among a pair of players loaned to German league

Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced today that they've loaned defensive prospect Josh Brook to the Krefeld Pinguine in the DEL, Germany's top hockey league. Brook will return to the Canadiens prior to the opening of training camp for 2020-21 NHL season. The 2020-21 DEL season, which has already been delayed, will likely begin in early December.

Brook, 21, was drafted in the second round, 56th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2017 NHL entry draft. Last season was his first full year of professional hockey, where he played for the Canadiens AHL affiliate, the Laval Rocket. In 60 games, he had 13 points (4 G, 9 A), 43 penalty minutes, and was a -3.

He played four seasons of junior with the Moose Jaw Warriors in the Western Hockey League. In 204 regular season WHL games, Brook recorded 157 points (31 G, 126 A), 206 penalty minutes, and was a +92. In 35 playoff games, he had 21 points (4 G, 17 A), 40 penalty minutes, and was a +3. During his final season in Moose Jaw, he lead the WHL in points by a defenceman with 75 (16 G, 59 A) in 59 games.

Internationally, Brook has represented Canada on a few occasions, most recently at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. In 5 games, he had 2 points (2 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a +7 as Canada finished sixth following an overtime loss to Finland in the quarter-finals.

The Edmonton Oilers announced today they've loaned recently signed forward, Dominik Kahun to EHC Munchen, also in the DEL. In 138 NHL games, he's recorded 68 points (25 G, 43 A), 14 penalty minutes, and is a +18.

While playing in the DEL, Kahun has accumulated 111 points (39 G, 72 A), 18 penalty minutes, and is a +36 in 157 regular season games. In 49 playoff games, he has 38 points (9 G, 29 A), 6 penalty minutes, and is a +7.

Kahun, 25, spent two years playing junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League for the Sudbury Wolves. In 101 regular season games, he had 71 points (22 G, 49 A), 16 penalty minutes, and was a -14. In 14 playoff games, he put up 8 points (2 G, 6 A), 4 penalty minutes, and was a -6.

Internationally, Kahun has represented Germany on many occasions, most recently at the 2019 IIHF World Hockey Championships. In 8 games, he had 5 points (1 G, 4 A), 0 penalty minutes, and was a -1 as Germany finished after losing to the Czech Republic in the quarter-final. He also played for Germany at the 2018 Winter Olympics, helping them get a silver medal, their highest finish in Olympic history. In 7 games, Kahun put up 5 points (2 G, 3 A), 2 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0.
