Following a great start to the season, Kirill Marchenko has now got the worst news possible as the Blue Jackets star appears set for a major stint on the sidelines after getting terrible injury news on Monday.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been one of the surprises of the NHL this season, and they've done so despite some tough injury news, mainly on star forward Sean Monahan, who remains out with an injury.

Now, things have gotten even worse, as it has been announced that star winger Kirill Marchenko, who has led the way for this forward group in 2024/25 has suffered a broken jaw.

While an official injury timeline has yet to be given, the usual number for this type of injury is between six and eight weeks, and if that's the case, it could be a crushing blow to Columbus' Stanley Cup Playoff hopes.

With 55 points in 53 games, Marchenko had already surpassed his career high, as he was well on pace to go over 80 points on the season, but now, he'll begin his rehab as he waits to see if his teammates can hang on to their current positioning in the Eastern Conference.

Unfortunately for the Blue Jackets, Kent Johnson is the only other right winger on the team with offensive spark and top-six potential, so they will need to get creative in replacing his impact for the team, which has only grown in 2024/25 with his chemistry alongside Adam Fantilli and Dimitri Voronkov.

If the team can stay in contention however, the returns of Marchenko and Monahan would make this team a genuine threat in the East, and given all that they've been through, they'll have plenty of support throughout the league.
