Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced early Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with defenceman Kaiden Guhle.

The deal will pay Guhle $832,500 at the NHL level with a signing bonus of $92,500 per season, for an average annual value of $925,000. The deal also has Performance “A” bonuses to a maximum of $420,000 per season. He will make $80,000 per season at the AHL level.

Guhle, 18, put up 11 goals and 40 points in 64 games with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL this past season, his second spent with them. It was a big improvement from his 17-point rookie campaign, and certainly caught the eyes of many scouts as he was selected 16th overall at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. He will likely spend the 2020-21 season back in the WHL and has a shot to suit up for Team Canada at the 2021 World Junior Tournament.
